V0.1.0 relic update!
Welcome to the Relic Update!
Some context regarding the changes: Previously, the optimal strategy to play was to explore the map to find as many abilities and relics (i.e., Potted Plant) as possible, before fighting any enemies. I don't like this strategy for 2 reasons:
- It frontloads rewards, which should be gained consistently throughout a run. This makes balancing the game more difficult.
- It is heavily RNG dependent (chest locations, enemy placement) and encourages resetting the game to get a strong start.
This update prevents this strategy from being used. To compensate, updates to relics have been made that allow you to become stronger faster and (in my opinion) make the game more fun.
Additionally, the game can now be played in fullscreen mode, but let me know how it works for you because I couldn't test it on many screens.
## OVERWORLD CHANGES
- Glass walls now spawn in location exits, which disappear when you have defeated the enemy in the current location.
- The minimap now contains icons showing you the locations of the heal points and boss.
- Ability chests now always spawn at heal points.
## RELIC UPDATES
General:
- 'Passive Ability' renamed to 'Relic'
- You can now have 6 relics at a time (up from 3)
- 3 additional relic chests now spawn in the world.
- Added 6 new relics (total relics: 16)
Buffs:
- Sapshroom heals every (3 -> 2) times your shield expires.
- Static Wool charges a bullet every (3 -> 2) times you dash.
- Pendant now gives 2.0 FRT when you have a shield. (from 3.0 FRT for 3s when your shield expires)
Nerfs:
- Potted Plant MHP increase no longer increases your HP.
- Broken Horn ATK increase (3.0 -> 1.0).
Changes:
- Potted Plant can no longer be found as a reward if you already have 3 relics.
- Copper Cable has been given a new effect, old effect moved to a different relic. (thematic change)
- Some relics have been given new names and icons, while keeping the same effects:
- Charged Heart -> Lightning Bloom
- Boot Barrier -> Wooden Shield
## OTHER UPDATES
- You can now toggle Fullscreen mode from the pause menu.
- You can now move at 10% of your movement speed while charging the laser ability.
## BUGS:
- Fixed bug where the Sapshroom relic could show as inactive while it was not.
- Fixed issue where some enemies and bullets were not correctly using delta time, leading to different behaviour for different framerates.
