RogueBlock (working title) V0.2.0 update!
SUMMARY & CONTEXT
This update focuses on improving player experience. It introduces customizable keybinds, tutorial popups, and 3 difficulty settings to choose from.
Additionally, some more content is added to the game in the form of new enemies, a new boss, and more relics and abilities.
SETTINGS & KEYBINDS
Settings:
- Added separate settings menu, accessible when you pause the game in the overworld
- added new ‘Autofire’ setting, causing you to automatically shoot bullets as if you are holding the fire button. If this option is enabled, the fire button instead toggles this automatic firing on/off.
- Added music/sfx volume controls to settings
Keybinds:
- Keybinds can now be customized by pausing the game in the overworld and selecting ‘keybinds’. For now it is only possible to bind to keys on the keyboard, not to mouse buttons or a controller.
TUTORIAL POPUPS
While playing the game, occasional popups will appear to explain the basic concepts in the game. These popups can be disabled in the settings.
ENEMIES
New enemies:
- New regular enemy: Spider
- New regular enemy: Piranha
- New boss enemy: Giant Spider Husk
- Each (non-extreme difficulty) run, the boss you fight is chosen randomly.
New mechanics:
- Cyan colored bullets appear in some battles, that damage you unless you dash through them.
- Orange colored bullets appear in some battles, that can be destroyed by shooting them.
Other changes:
- Tweaked several enemy attack patterns
DIFFICULTY
- Practice mode has been removed
- Before starting a run, you can now choose between 3 difficulties:
- normal: similar to what previously was practice mode
- hard: similar to what previously was the ‘main’ mode
- extreme: an extra difficult mode for people who already beat the game in a previous version

RELICS & ABILITIES
General:
- 4 new relics and 2 new abilities have been added to the game. These mainly revolve around these mechanics:
- Lock on: makes bullets automatically target the enemy
- Self damage: interact with low hp / losing hp
Buffs:
- Snail Shell: effect cooldown (5 -> 3) seconds
- Battery: Stores up to (3 -> 5) charged bullets
Nerfs:
- Pentashot can now only be used if you are a certain distance away from the enemy.
- Copper Cables: charges a bullet every (5 -> 6) hits
- Lightbulb: lowers ability cooldowns by (20 -> 10)%
- Broken Horn: HP gain per hit (0.5 -> 0.25)% of missing HP
GAMEPLAY CHANGES
- Player speed in battle lowered by 20%
- Makes precise dodging easier, also encourages using the dash more
- Added entry, heart and boss icons to minimap of end region
VISUAL CHANGES
- Changed the font used in game to ‘Silkscreen’
- Updated look of reward menu & run over screen
- Added explosion animation for when you hit an enemy with a bullet
- explosion size scales with damage dealt
